Project Cafe's touch-screen controller confirmed by Nikkei
by Andrew Yoon, Jun 03, 2011 12:00pm PDTA lot of crazy theories have been thrown around regarding Nintendo's successor to the Wii, currently dubbed "Project Cafe." Perhaps you heard of the one involving a six inch touch screen controller? A controller that also has a built-in camera? That would be crazy, right?
Well, it's true, at least according to a report featured in the Nikkei. The Japanese news source confirms the previously rumored details, such as the six inch touch screen and camera. According to a translation by Andriasang, "the controller will give tablet-like controls to games" and the controller "can also be used as a portable game machine." So, what does this mean for Nintendo's other handhelds, such as the 3DS?
The system will be released in the latter half of 2012, giving developers plenty of time to take advantage of Nintendo's unique controller, and us enough time to scratch our heads in confusion. Hopefully, all will make sense after Nintendo's E3 press conference next Tuesday.
