Morning Discussion

Today sees the North American release of Mass Effect 2 and, more importantly, the revival of an old favourite Shacknews tradition--the launch day discussion post. So please, keep your Mass Effect 2 out of Morning Discussion because people are avoiding spoilers, or perhaps live in Europe and the thought of anyone playing ME2 before Friday fills them with a furious rage.

So. Something else, then. Read any good books lately? It's not quite a book but I've been enjoying Judge Anderson: The Psi Files Volume 1, a phonebook sized collection of stories from celebrated British sci-fi comic 2000AD starring Judge Dredd's splendid psychic chum Judge Cassandra Anderson. There's a small exhibition of frequent Anderson artist Arthur Ranson's comic art at Orbital Comics near Leicester Square in London, if you're in the area and fancy seeing some rockin' pictures.

Yeah but think about the effect of a couple thousand code monkeys, server admins, helpdesk jockeys, and retail goons all taking off at the same time.

The economy would grind to a halt due to not having anyone left to shift the blame to!

So you're saying they might actually correct themselves due to no other possible course of action? We must do this then, for the good of America. Nay, the good of humanity!

Every game I've played recently has been fucking awesome - both stuff I got in the Steam sale and going through the 360 Christmas releases. I get unhealthily excited about video games.

I finished the new Monkey Island, moved on to Torchlight, picked up Dawn of War 2 for dirt cheap after that, finished ODST two days ago and last night started in Arkham Asylumn.

          Seriously, video games fucking rule.

Do you have a PS3? Your next game should be Uncharted 2. It's the only game I played last year that was better than Batman.

Yeah, I've been so stoked on games for the last six months or so. I don't think I've played / bought / read about / thought about games this much in a few years. Winter + Steam sale was the death of me.

me 2... got two nukes in a row over the weekend, and I want to nuke something again. First one was on Scrapyard, followed up on Quarry. Harrier + Choppergunner + some solid hiding / aiming == Nuke!

      yay.

Damn, a nuke on scrapyard is no easy feat. I've been rolling with Care Package, Harrier, Chopper Gunner lately...thinking about giving nuke a shot, but I'll probably never be able to use it.

Mostly it's dumb luck that you go up against a team of complete fucktards, and none of them are using coldblooded + stinger.

We were playing Domination though, and on scrapyard I was modestly tearing things up near the exploded tanker truck holding C. Launched the harrier and made my way into the warehouse at that end of the map. Nailed a camper in the rafters and got a few kills from the harrier. Sat up in the corner of the rafters and completely annihilated the team with chopper gunner. Medster ran watch on the ground and saved my ass at least once if not twice picking off guys who were looking for me. Got the nuke with time to spare, even though our team WAS losing in points.

Then on Quarry we were battling them pretty closely on points - started off winning but as it got to 150, we were down a few. Near the point in between the big red warehouse and it's smaller warehouse that's connected with the overhead passage I got lucky and got the harrier + chopper gunner, and hid underneath the steps. Chopper gunner yielded next to nothing between a combination of bad enemy spawning, and a horrid flight pattern. Came out of it still needing a few kills and zapped a guy that was running around above me, and two more guys coming in from the big warehouse. I think I got the nuke off with only a minute to spare as we were losing 193-180 or something. Again medster covered me while I was in the chopper, and I think that's the other big part of it.

You really need to get lucky, and either have an amazing hiding spot - or have some good squadmate coverage.
