I can only assume you realize by being here you've become a bit more awesome. I mean I

realize you probably already knew that you have been awesome for a while now but it never

hurts to enhance your awesome a bit. There are people out there noticing how awesome you

are and they are trying to catch up! Keep working on it though. Just because you have a

healthy lead doesnt mean you can slack off.

Lastly, check out the new Amazon e-book

reader thingie. It's ugly as all hell but does nifty stuff. Perhaps Kindle 2.0 will

be cool.

Vista should be installed on new hardware. Windows 95 would install on a 386 with 4 megs of ram. It wasn't pretty, but it could be done. Windows 3.11 would always be faster with that configuration. Making 95 faster was not the solution.

Two years ago: Longhorn will be soooo cool

One year: Vista is going to be great and DX10 blah blah blah

Launch: You'll see, it's great. it has DX10 and instant search.

One year later: It'll be great with SP1!

next year: SP2 will make it great! Trust us!

GOW is the first Games for Windows Live game that I've tried and I still can't get the fucking game to run. Judging by the Epic Games forums, there are a ton of people with the same problem which they still haven't patched.

Lots of people at work have bought Macbooks lately (software dev company). Between OS X and the nice hardware they are making progress.

The year over year increase in Mac sales has been enormous, and part of that is OS X. As well as Apple has been executing over the last three years, Microsoft deserves some of the credit there as well. It is kind of crazy how many people I know that have bought their first Macs over the last year.

Mostly people caught up in their retarded ad campaigns though, thinking Macs actually offer some kind of superior experience and Windows just crashes all day.

It's silly what a fucked up perception younger kids have of PCs now after being brainwashed by the Mac ads.

OS X is great, don't get me wrong. I just don't think it's leagues ahead of windows by any means.

I'd hardly call myself a younger kid, I've used MS products since Windows 3.0 and built my own PCs since 96. I also think that Macs have been superior to Windows since OS 10.3. The 24" 2.8 Core 2 Duo iMac I bought two weeks ago may be the best overall computer I've ever bought. If PC gaming wasn't a big priority that would be my only desktop. It's just my opinion of course, but it's better enough than Windows for me to feel this way.

I wasn't referring to you, as you have an informed opinion. I'm referring to all the freshman going into colleges with no real conception of PC vs Mac and just buying up what the ads tell them because the products are marketed well.

pretty sure boot camp + good VM options + design are the winning combo, more than os x.

I will definately dual boot Vista on the MB Pro I plan on getting early next year for TF2, COD4, etc, but that said, I can't think of a single person I know who is new to Macs and is dual booting Windows on their hardware. Maybe it's because none of them are big PC gamers, I dunno, but I thought it was surprising.

my problem with apple is i dont want to be tied to their hardware. I like tinkering, upgrading, etc.

My biggest wish tho is for directx games to play in linux smoothly. if that were to happen I would carve a penguin in my case.

The thing i like most about vista is ive had no hint of viruses or spyware at all. That icon thing is the only major security hole ive heard about since release and even still i think uac had to be disabled in order for it to infect.

I don't buy that story at all. Vista has seen big speed improvements from the released-so-far patches alone. Especially in the area of copying files. This story may be correct if he was comparing it to an up to date system, but it doesn't look like that's the case.

I personally have seen practically every problem I've had with Vista fixed in the time since release.

Thats pretty silly actually, don't do it, unless you're saving money. For one, you can't address all that ram with the GPU memory and the system memory.

Also vista is fine on faster systems. On a p4 2.8 with a 6600gt it is sluggish, but on a faster machine vista is completely fine. In fact, I dread using XP now mostly because of start search, the improved UI look etc. At first I longed for the XP explorer look, but I really like using breadcrumbs or whatever the fuck it is.
