  • Time Crisis 4 lightgun to work like a Wii

    Game|Life reports that the lightgun for Namco Bandai's upcoming PS3 shooter Time Crisis 4 will use sensor markers placed on televisions to receive aiming feedback, similar to the way a Wii remote functions. The Guncon 3 has a tiny camera placed in the muzzle of the gun to detect the markers, thereby avoiding the limitations of traditional lightguns, which currently can't be used on modern HDTVs. They also have a picture of the Guncon 3, via Game Watch.

  • Codemasters bought out

    European publisher/developer Codemasters (Dirt, Overlord) today announced that it has been completely acquired by the venture firm Balderton Capital. Founders David, Richard, and Jim Darling were previously holding onto a 30% stake in the company, following two Balderton buy-ups made since 2005. Goldman Sachs also provided an investment of 50 million Euros ($98.4m) to foster future growth of the independent company.

  • Director Sylvain stomps onto Castlevania movie

    Paul W.S. Anderson has handed directing duties on the Castlevania film project to Sylvain White (Stomp The Yard, I'll Always Know What You Did Last Summer), according to Variety. The two will collaborate in an effort to rewrite Anderson's script. Anderson is leaving the project to work on a remake of Death Race.

  • Ronaldinho Mii to be playable on Wii FIFA 08

    Soccer star Ronaldinho has been made into a Mii character for the upcoming Wii version of FIFA 08. The game will feature a series of minigames titled "Footii Party with Ronaldinho," in which gamers will use their own Miis to compete against, and eventually unlock, the Ronaldinho character.

  • Majesco sales increase

    Publisher Majesco (Psychonauts, Nanostray) today announced the financial results of its second quarter, reporting sales of $14.6 million, up from $11 million. The majority of the sales came from new releases, with over half of the revenue coming from the Wii titles Cooking Mama: Cook Off and Bust A Move Bash.

  • Warhammer Online beta signups total 200,000

    EA Mythic sends word that the recent beta signup for Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning has netted over 200,000 applicants in ten days. If you feel lucky, the company is still accepting registrations.

  • Team Ninja open to Wii development

    Producer/director Yosuke Hayashi of developer Team Ninja (Dead or Alive 4, Ninja Gaiden) has told Pro-G that the company is open to working on a Wii title in the future. "We would make something for the Wii if we came up with something unique that would only work on the Wii," Hayashi said. "There are several groups within Team Ninja. The PS3 group, the Xbox 360 group, and there are Wii fans."
