A demo for the arcade space-shooter Project Sylpheed (X360) is now available on the Xbox Live Marketplace. Based on the top-scrolling shooter Silpheed, which saw release on the PC and Sega CD, Project Sylpheed was developed by Game Arts and published by Square Enix.

While the original Silpheed titles were fixed-path shooters, this spiritual sequel gives you full control over your ship as you battle through hordes of enemy fighters. Ship upgrades can be carried out in between battles, and for those wanting more than a simple arcade shooter, a full storyline is told through 50 minutes of cutscenes.

Project Sylpheed is set to hit stores on July 10th, at the affordable price of $40.

i was wrong about the pc version being 2D. it was very rough/early 3D.

still, i thought they were both vertical scrollers :<

Never played it myself. I was always more of a Star Fox man when it came to rudimentary 3D shooters.

        Thanks for the vertical clarification.
