The first Temple Run was a breakout success, earning 170 million downloads in total so far. But it had to build word-of-mouth slowly, and took more than a year arriving at that number. Its sequel, bolstered by brand recognition, is off to a much quicker start.

Temple Run is getting a sequel on the iOS App Store. The original hit 100 million in August, and has just continued to pick up steam, now topping 170 million. The appropriately named Temple Run 2 will start testing its own mettle tomorrow.
