The Walking Dead was one of this year's most talked-about games. Speaking from personal experience, I spent hours meticulously discussing my decisions with a good friend. While we both prioritized protecting the precocious Clementine, the ethical twists and turns to that end left us divided on issues in the best of ways. The water cooler conversation became one of my favorite parts of the Walking Dead experience, and I know I'm not alone. So let's review some of those tough choices, and what it might mean for the next season.

Clementine, the vulnerable 8 year old girl you're tasked with protecting in Telltale's The Walking Dead, is one of the most iconic characters in games this year. In a new feature detailing the character's inception, Telltale reveals that the game was always designed to center around her. "Clementine was literally the first idea," writer Sean Vanaman revealed. "From the beginning, the designers knew they wanted a character that would act as a moral compass for the main character as he progressed through the game."

Telltale's episodic adventure game The Walking Dead is amazing, They say. It's some of the best writing in games, They say. We really should get around to playing it, fellow person who keeps meaning to. If financial woes are what's kept you away, you're in luck, as the whole first episode is now free on Xbox 360 until December 31.

You might have thirty bucks in your pocket and a hankering for emotionally devastating storytelling, but you'll have to hold off another week. Telltale announced today that the retail release of its critically acclaimed The Walking Dead is coming December 11, rather than tomorrow as previously planned.

The Walking Dead has been doled out in small chunks to an already passionate fan base. As such, the game has earned its share of accolades. Now that it has completed the arc of its first season, and the full story has come into focus, I feel confident declaring it one of my favorite games this year, and one of the best narrative experiences I've had in any game, in any year.

At long last, Telltale's excellent adaptation of The Walking Dead comes to an end this week. "No Time Left" brings the five-episode season to its conclusion, and it will likely offer the most harrowing choices yet. Steve's already finished the season, but you'll see the review on Shacknews tomorrow. For now, watch this trailer.

The fifth and final episode of Telltale's The Walking Dead will claw at your door next week, bringing the adventure game series to a most-probably-distressing conclusion. Will Lee and Clementine live happily ever after? Will that jerk you chose to spare bite you in the bum, perhaps even literally? Will you wake up and find it's all been a dream? That last one's probably a 'no.'

Nothing like short notice to keep you on your toes. Telltale Games has announced that the next and penultimate episode of The Walking Dead, titled "Around Every Corner," will release tomorrow on the PlayStation Network. PC and Xbox Live Arcade releases will follow on Wednesday.
