Free Summer of Arcade content coming to Minecraft and Trials Evolution

Xbox Live's Summer of Arcade will have treats for Minecraft and Trials players--even if they don't purchase a single game during Microsoft's promo. Starting July 18th, free content is coming to both popular XBLA games.

Minecraft players will be able to download a free skin pack, featuring one skin for each game featured in the ongoing promotion. (Is that a pixelated Tony Hawk we see?)

Xbox Summer of Arcade 2012 begins July 18

Microsoft's Summer of Arcade promotion is back yet again. It will begin on July 18th with Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD for 1200 Microsoft Points ($15). Then, it will continue with Wreckateer, Deadlight, Hybrid, and Dust: An Elysian Tail. As with previous Summer of Arcades, purchasing multiple games in the lineup will entitle you to a bonus. This year, buying three games will give you a 400 point rebate ($5).

Summer of Arcade line-up announced

Amid all the hubub of its E3 press briefing, Microsoft has quietly revealed the line-up for this year's Summer of Arcade promotion. Though release dates and prices are still unannounced, we know the five games include Tony Hawk's return and a Kinect exclusive.

Xbox Live Summer of Arcade dated and priced

Microsoft's Larry Hryb (aka Major Nelson) has announced the dates and prices for this year's Summer of Arcade promotion on Xbox Live Arcade. The prices mostly come in at the standard $15 (1200 MSP); the one exception is Fruit Ninja Kinect, which goes for just $10 (800 MSP). Read more »

XBLA Summer of Arcade lineup announced

Microsoft has unveiled the lineup for this year's Summer of Arcade promotion, which it uses to highlight the latest and greatest Xbox Live Arcade releases. It'll kick off in July, bringing a swish new XBLA game for five consecutive weeks.

This year's Summer of Arcade games will be Toy Soldiers: Cold War, Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet, Fruit Ninja Kinect, Bastion, and From Dust. As ever, you can click on their names for screenshots and trailers and whatnot. Specific release dates and pricing have yet to be confirmed for the full lineup. Read more »

Xbox Live Marketplace Schedule: July 22 to August 2

Xbox Live's Major Nelson has released the schedule for Xbox Live Marketplace content from July 22 to August 2, noting discounts on Borderlands and Forza Motorsport 3 DLC and new Avatar Marketplace Gear. Next week brings the second game in the Summer of Arcade, Hydro Thunder Hurricane for 1200MS Points ($15).

Avatar items from the fantasy realm of Dragon Age: Origins and the sci-fi world of Halo: Reach are incoming on July 22 and 23, respectively. Next week, all Borderlands DLC will drop to 400MS Points each (50% off from 800MS Points) for the Deal of the Week, followed by discounts on multiple Forza Motorsport 3 DLC packs. As always, sale pricing is limited to Xbox Live Gold members. Read more »

Xbox Live "Summer of Arcade" Dated and Priced

According to Microsoft, the best way to beat the summer heat is to stay inside and spend $15 every week.Today, Xbox.com updated its Summer of Arcade promotion page to reveal the dates and prices for each of the titles included. Each title in the promotion is priced at 1200MS Points ($15 earth dollars). Earlier, Konami seemingly jumped the marketing gun and revealed Castlevania: Harmony of Despair's date and price.
