Plants vs Zombies: Plant Your Path for example, is an "honest-to-goodness choose your own adventure book" featuring over 20 different endings.

Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare split-screen co-op is exclusive to Xbox One

Boss Mode is already exclusive to the Xbox One version of Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare. But the class-based multiplayer shooter is also locking off a common feature exclusively for the Xbox One version: split-screen co-op.

Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare coming to Xbox on February 18

Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare coming to Xbox on February 18

PopCap's odd Plants vs. Zombies shooter will be available on February 18 as a timed exclusive on Xbox consoles. Garden Warfare will be $30 on Xbox 360 and $40 on Xbox One.

We had a chance to get our hands on the game, and it's definitely coming along. It's impressive that PopCap didn't force clear-cut shooter roles to the zombie and plant classes, although there are some familiar types, like healers and heavies. I first tried out the football jersey-wearing All-Star zombie, who is well-equipped with a machine gun, grenade, and a drop shield. He also has a powerful dash move which can result in a couple instant kills, provided the dash is well-aimed. I then tried out the highly mobile Engineer, who can temporarily traverse through the map at high speeds by traveling on a jackhammer. He can also call in an air strike using his drone, which can also fire pulse rounds at nearby plants.

PopCap promises 'closer parity' between iOS and Android games in the future

PopCap promises 'closer parity' between iOS and Android games in the future

Plants vs Zombies 2 took over two months to move from iOS to Android. For fans that don't have an iDevice, the wait was excruciating. However, PopCap says that they're learning, and promises future releases will come at a much quicker pace. "Going forward, you'll see much closer parity between [iOS and Android]," PopCap's Tony Leamer said.

Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare is multiplayer-only, will launch for $39.99

Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare is multiplayer-only, will launch for $39.99

Garden Warfare, EA Canada's multiplayer shooter take on Plants vs Zombies, was one of our favorite surprises from E3. Apparently, PvZ simply works as a multiplayer shooter.

Powered by Frostbite, the multiplayer shooter is unquestionably one of PopCap's biggest productions ever. Supporting both 24 player multiplayer and 4 player co-op, Garden Warfare will be PopCap's most expensive release ever when it launches. However, creative director Justin Wiebe points out that it will be "relatively inexpensive when compared to other games on the platform."

Plants vs Zombies 2 going to the 'Far Future'

Plants vs Zombies 2 is about time, haven't you heard? So the next expansion, named "Far Future," takes the free-to-play game into the future. Crazy Dave's time machine will be exiting the past and dipping into more sci-fi tropes.

Plants vs Zombies 2 for iOS out now

Plants vs Zombies 2 for iOS out now

Plants vs Zombies 2: It's About Time is finally out. For real. You can download it on the iOS App Store right now. In America, too.

After years of silence, the sequel was revealed as a free-to-play follow-up featuring time travel and brand new plants. Originally scheduled for release earlier this year, the game was suddenly delayed--and then "soft launched" in Australia and New Zealand to test the in-game economy. And now, it's out. For real. Seriously.

Plants vs Zombies 2 video shows off some new plants

Plants vs Zombies 2 video shows off some new plants

Because it's a sequel, Plants vs Zombies 2: It's About Time needs to add new plants. While your winning strategy of cattail and pumpkins may still be effective in PopCap's new game, you'll still want to experiment with some of the new garden defenders.

Perhaps our favorite of the new plants is the chili bean, which causes zombies that eat it to die and fart, damaging any undead behind it. There's also the bonk choy, a short-ranged melee plant that pairs nicely with a wall-nut and oyster sauce.

Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare preview: rooting for more

Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare preview: rooting for more

Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare should not be a good game. Turning PopCap's beloved tower defense game into a console third-person shooter sounds like a joke; surely this must be the result of mega-corp Electronic Arts' heavy focus-testing. Yet, Garden Warfare manages to instantly wash away any cynicism surrounding the title with its loving 3D recreations of PvZ's iconic characters. It even manages to be an interesting game in its own right, by successfully translating the strategic gameplay of the original into a tactical shooter experience.

Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare announced, coming first to Xbox One

Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare announced, coming first to Xbox One

As expected, Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare made its debut at EA's E3 press conference. Garden Warfare will come first on Xbox One and then on Xbox 360.

Gameplay from the four-player co-op third-person shooter showcased the peashooter's straightforward shooting ability, as well as the cactus as they have to go against 3D representations of the franchise's most iconic foes, including the disco zombie and the zomboss. There's even "vehicular combat" of sorts, with the onion being able to fly above the battlefield.

Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare coming to E3

Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare coming to E3

Updated with details from PopCap Games.

Plants vs Zombies 2 is not, as feared, a first-person shooter. But that doesn't mean the oft-rumored multiplayer take on PopCap's popular strategy game isn't real.

Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare can be seen plastered all over Los Angeles Convention Center's South Hall, where many of this year's E3 festivities will take place. This name, if you recall, was spotted long ago when EA registered domain names for it.
