Is a pirated game truly a lost sale? Do some people buy games after playing a pirate copy? In a way, it doesn't really matter. For some reason or another, not one single new game is landing on store shelves next Tuesday. In fact, new releases are light all round next week. Puzzling! We'll receive a smattering of downloadable DS and 3DS games and... that's it.

Far Cry 3 arrives Stateside next week, having curiously already debuted in Europe, but things are quite quiet release-wise aside from Ubisoft's open-world murder simulator. We'll see DJMax Technika Tune, Guardians of Middle-earth, Primordia, and the small and unexciting second wave of Wii U releases, and a few more odds and ends.

What kind of a maniac game would try to launch in the same week as a brand new console, thinking it had any chance of being noticed? Well, Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 is having a go. Yes, next week is rather quiet aside from the stomping great games monsters that are Cod Blops 2 and Nintendo's shiny Wii U.

Lawks, will you look at that! This week brings that most rare and precious of new releases: a new PlayStation 2 game, in the form of PES 2013. Oh, and something named Halo 4 is coming out. It's probably popular if there are at least four, unless this is comedy The Naked Gun-style naming.
