The goal of Plague Inc is to wipe out all of mankind with a deadly disease. Apparently, the game's unique premise caught the attention of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). According to creator James Vaughan, the CDC reached out to him, as "it was something they were all playing."

James Vaughan likes coming up with new ways to kill off humanity for fun, and hopefully profit for his indie company Ndemic Creations. Coming next month, Vaughan (aka jamiejme to Shack users) will unleash a new mutation of Plague Inc on the unsuspecting public, this time with a Necroa virus that turns the population into zombies.

If you follow Shacknews regularly, then you know a few of us have been hooked on the iOS game Plague, Inc. -- from Ndemic Creations and Shack regular James Vaughan (aka jamiejme) -- especially since the release of the Mutation update featuring the Neurax Worm. Now Android users can play it starting October 4.

Plague Inc. has been a popular game on iOS, having previously hit the #1 spot on the Apple App Store's top paid games list. Now, the title is coming to Android.
Developer Ndemic has signed an agreement with Miniclip to port the game to the Android platform later this month. Plague Inc. performed "beyond expectations, and we now expect big results for the game on Android," Ndemic CEO James Vaughan said.

Plague Inc. was featured near the top of the iTunes "Top Paid Games" list for a good part of June. It's an addictive strategy title that tasks players with eliminating all of mankind by choosing and evolving a communicable disease before a global cure can be produced and deployed. Plague Inc. infected about 750,000 iOS devices within its first three weeks in the wild, even without any significant marketing behind it.
The game was created by indie developer James Vaughan at his studio Ndemic Creations. Vaughan just happens to be a member of the Shacknews community, so we took the opportunity to reach out and pick his brain about Plague Inc.'s development and runaway success.
