Borderlands 2 followed in its predecessor's plot points and tone so seamlessly, some fans may not have realized that it brought on an entirely new, dedicated writer. Anthony Burch, who had made his name outside the development community with his self-started web series Hey Ash, Whatcha Playin'?, was tasked with continuing the franchise.
"When I came on-board, there were a bunch of different ideas as to how different plot threads could have been finished up, and we started to pick the ones that made the most sense for the story we wanted to tell," Burch told Shacknews. "A lot of it was working with the pieces we had in the first game to create something new in the second game."
Be careful, though, readers. This interview is filthy with spoilers.

You would think that after a distress call and the knowledge that previous platoons have been decimated, the marines of Aliens: Colonial Marines would be hesitant to enter the fray. But the group enters with all the "oorah" it can muster, and the body count promptly begins to rise. That's what you get for underestimating xenomorphs.

Aliens: Colonial Marines is all about hardened space jocks taking on xenomorphs. But if the movie Aliens taught us one thing, it's that all the badass in the world is no match for an angry killing machine with a tiny mouth inside its larger, conveniently human-head sized mouth.

The original Borderlands was lauded for its diverse and well-designed downloadable content packs. It's easy to forget about the one notable exception. Mad Moxxi's Underdome Riot was generally panned by critics and fans, who found the wave-based combat redundant, unsatisfying, and in certain cases, just absurdly hard. The DLC, in which a minor character hosted a fighting tournament, did not sound appealing to me. It was the one pack I skipped.
So when I stepped into Borderlands 2's "Mr. Torgue's Campaign of Carnage," and a minor character almost immediately started inviting me to a fighting tournament, I had some reservations.

Borderlands 2 is getting a heaping helping of bloodlust, with the previously outed Mr. Torgue's Campaign of Carnage. Just as Handsome Jack served as the head of the weapon manufacturer Hyperion, Torgue has his own brand of weapons.

Borderlands 2 has been out for quite a while, but who says it's too late to fire up a Web series? Not Gearbox, apparently, which launched season two of its Claptrap shorts. The irascible robot takes a comical look behind the scenes of the game, and uses blunt-force trauma as a teaching tool.
