Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet PC release includes free DLC

If you're running late to a date, it would be nice to pick up a box of chocolates as a kind gesture. That's how the Fuelcell Games folks feel, and that's why the upcoming PC release of Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet will include all the console DLC when it releases.

For the uninitiated, ITSP is a Metroidvania-esque shooter that originally debuted on Xbox Live Arcade last year. Since then, a PC version of the game was spotted by the ESRB. And only now is its release confirmed.

Some things are just naturally meant to be together: chocolate and peanut butter; turkey and gravy; indie games and tacos. The Xbox Live Arcade title Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet is teaming up with Del Taco, a fast food shop that serves objects technically identifiable as tacos.

Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet PC release rated by ESRB

The insanely gorgeous Insanely Twisted Planet appears to be heading to the PC. Originally an Xbox Live Summer of Arcade release, the Metroidvania-inspired shooter has been re-rated by the ESRB for release on Windows PCs.

A PC release is likely, given XBLA games' penchant for reappearing on other platforms. For example, Bastion and From Dust have already received PC ports.

Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet will be getting downloadable content next week on Xbox Live Marketplace. The "Shadow Hunters" DLC will be somewhat different than the game's current multiplayer mode, and takes place following the conclusion of the game's campaign.

Players will head out to an asteroid field where the dark plague has retreated, with a giant bomb in tow. And yes, there will be more boss-battles.

Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet getting co-op DLC

Fuelcell Games is planning some downloadable content for Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet, which will add a new co-op mode on top of the already-included Lantern mode. Company CEO Joe Olson opened up about the DLC plans, and responded to pervasive criticisms that the game is too short.

"I can't talk too much about it as we're still in the earlier stages," Olson told Eurogamer. "While we're really happy with how Lantern Run turned out, we wanted to bring a co-op experience that's a little more like the core campaign experience. That's kind of our goal with the DLC."
