Broken Age sales secure funding for Act 2 development

Broken Age sales secure funding for Act 2 development

Double Fine took a calculated risk by releasing Broken Age in two parts, hoping that the sales from the game's first half would offer enough financing to complete the rest of the adventure. The risk has paid off, as founder Tim Schafer has confirmed that Broken Age's first act has made more than enough money to allow the studio to finish development on the second half of Vella and Shay's story.

Broken Age Season Pass announced, begins January 28

Update: Added release date information and the newly-released trailer.

Double Fine has called take-backsies on its previous decision to release Broken Age as Early Access. Rather than launch in an unfinished state to raise funds for polish and the second half, it will be a standard Steam release as a "Season Pass" to purchase both parts at once. Backers will get to play Act 1 today, and the unwashed masses will be able to play on January 28.

Double Fine's Hack 'n' Slash cheats onto PC in 2014

Double Fine has announced a new game that combines two distinctly different tastes: the fantastical world of elves, and hacking games. The Cave spelunking into iOS on Thursday

The Cave may not have met everyone's (maybe a little unreal) expectations, but we certainly enjoyed it. Tim Schafer explains Double Fine's lack of sequels

Tim Schafer and the folks at Double Fine don't really dabble in sequels, as evidenced by the studio's library of 15 original titles. It's not so much because Schafer has a particular distaste for them, but it's mostly because he often gets so caught up in new ideas that he just can't wait to make them reality.

Jack Black reunites with Tim Schafer in Broken Age

Jack Black and Tim Schafer are reuniting for Broken Age. The two previously worked together on Brutal Legend, one of Double Fine's most divisive works. Black played the main character, although his role has been considerably shrunken down for Schafer's latest adventure. He'll play Harm'ny Lightbeard, a part that Black calls "not very big" in a new video released by Double Fine.
