The new add-on for the Xbox One exclusive zombie-slayer follows another Los Perdidos side story, telling the tale of ZDC agent Brad Park, who comes to terms with the truth behind the zombie outbreak and kills a whole lot of the undead along the way.

Watch the first 25 minutes of Dead Rising 3

We really like Dead Rising 3. But don't take our word for it. You can watch the first half hour of the game and judge for yourself--if you don't mind spoiling the experience for yourself, of course.

Dead Rising 3 will be available at Xbox One's launch.

Dead Rising 3 preview: co-op joyrides

Dead Rising 3 preview: co-op joyrides

Dead Rising 3 is shaping up to be one of the most exciting next-gen launch games this year. It's certainly shaped up quite significantly since its E3 reveal, which featured a sluggish framerate, overly serious tone, and rather forced use of SmartGlass.

Many of these issues have been addressed in the latest build we saw. For example, the game is running much more smoothly No longer does it seem like Xbox One is choking on the hundreds of zombies on screen. According to Capcom Vancouver, the boosted GPU and CPU speed helped significantly. "Just with that update, performance has gone through the roof," we were told.

Dead Rising 3's procedural generation promises: 'you'll never see the same zombie twice'

Dead Rising 3's procedural generation promises: 'you'll never see the same zombie twice'

Dead Rising 3 has always been about killing the undead and looking good. Whether wearing a Mega Man costume or a tutu, the heroes of Capcom's zombie apocalypse have always looked unique. Finally, the same can be said about the hordes of flesh-eating corpses.

Capcom producer Mike Jones explained that "you'll never see the same zombie twice" due to the game's procedural generation technique. "It's all procedurally generated: hair styles, clothing, colors, textures. And the gore is too: missing jaws, missing eyes... it's all totally dynamic. That's a whole system that we built. We didn't just model the zombies, we had to model the pieces and the system puts them together."

Dead Rising 3: Day One Edition includes Frank and Chuck outfits

Dead Rising 3: Day One Edition includes Frank and Chuck outfits

Ah, sequels. We want them to have prettier and shinier graphics than predecessors. They need to feature innovative new features that advance gameplay--all while remaining exactly the same. You'll be able to live out this gaming paradox with the "Day One Edition" of Dead Rising 3. By pre-ordering the game, you'll get the bonus "Tribute Pack," which offers exclusive game content and bonus attribute perks. Namely, you'll be able to play as Frank West and Chuck Greene from Dead Rising 1 & 2.

Dead Rising 3 trailer crafts steamroller-motorbike

Cinematic trailers may not represent actual gameplay at all, but a shiny new one for Dead Rising 3 does reveal a jolly exciting feature: the ability to craft weird and wonderful vehicles like a motorbike crossed with a steamroller and armed with flamethrowers. It's a pretty pretty trailer, too.

Dead Rising 3 has SmartGlass-exclusive missions

Dead Rising 3 has SmartGlass-exclusive missions

Launching SmartGlass on your phone or tablet while playing Dead Rising 3 will give you additional abilities, like calling down air strikes and marking waypoints. However, there's another reason to keep your handheld device nearby while playing: it's the only way to get the complete game experience.

"You’ll get calls from a character that are only on the SmartGlass device. So if you don’t have SmartGlass, you won’t get those calls from that guy. Which also means you won’t get those missions," executive producer Josh Bridge explained.
