Painkiller Developer People Can Fly Trademarks 'Bulletstorm'

People Can Fly, the Polish subsidiary of Epic Games and developer of the Painkiller series, filed a trademark application for the name "Bulletstorm" on December 23. According to the documentation the name applies to "Computer software for use with personal computers, for use with home video game consoles for use with televisions, and for use with arcade-based video game consoles for use with televisions."

It seems likely that this could be the intended name of the previously undisclosed game mentioned back in August when Electronic Arts announced that Epic Games and People Can Fly were working on a new multi-platform property for the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC as part of its EA Partners program.

If only PCF had been given the chance to continue the Painkiller franchise beyond the expansion to the original. I think everyone will agree that there's a distinctive line dividing the original + exp and the rest, in terms of quality.

Was the expansion actually any good?

I don't know; I'm eager to see them start something new, as long as they concentrate on making the gameplay mechanic fun. Painkiller was definitely fun, though it got a bit old after running through it a ton of times, and I disagreed with the mechanic of locking out levels to lower difficulty settings.

      why didn't they?

They worked for publisher Dreamcatcher, which afaik still owns the PK IP. PCF got bought out by Epic and I think they worked on the PC port of Gears of War.

I didn't hear much good stuff about Gears PC, though I didn't hear much at all about Gears PC (except that they forgot to timestamp the code signing certificate and it expired on January 30th or whatever).

That's because it's pretty dead. Nobody really cares about it on PC, although since I have a copy I occasionally jump online to get my ass kicked by the hardcore dedicated players already there.

But yes, People Can Fly did work on the PC port, if the splash screen is to be believed.
