Wal-Mart Canada Matches U.S. Halo 3 Pricing
Four days ago the loonie actually matched the U.S. dollar in value, and has been trading above the U.S. dollar since--explaining the 16-cent difference between the Canadian and U.S. prices. "We have taken the opportunity of a higher loonie to lower prices where we can," said Wal-Mart Canada VP Jim Thompson in the announcement.
It's unknown if this move by Wal-Mart Canada will motivate the industry at large to stop overcharging Canadian gamers, but perhaps even more important is whether this CA$10 price drop will force gamers to take notice of Bungie's relatively obscure first person shooter amidst blockbuster titles like Telltale Games' CSI: Hard Evidence (PC, X360, Wii) also debuting this week (at a CA$10 premium).

That's pretty sweet. From what I hear, you Canadians get unjustly raped on a lot of prices :(

On a lot of things yes. But I've found in that last year or so that you can often get big games on the day of release for on par with U.S. pricing. It varies though, Gears still is 69.99 IIRC but Halo will be easy to find at 59.99.
And Walmart starting on Friday will have the xbox 360 Premium for 347.63. Its a special sale but hey it good. -
Yeah, the Canadian buck didn't just go from 75 cents US to a dollar US overnight. I can understand stores carrying older prices marking things up based on what they paid for it at the time, but this shit has been lame for a long time. Perhaps it's just everyone but Walmart's desire to end their prices in 9.99, but our buck has been 85 cents US for more than a year, yet we still pay like it's 50 cents US.
The same idea applies to gasoline prices. I love how the gas stations pay so much money for the fuel in the truck when it's delivered, and yet raise the price on fuel which is already in the ground ready to be pumped.
