On the way to the Adirondacks, we took 81 up through Virginia for a bit, then shot over to the Blue Ridge Parkway, which is simply the most beautiful road that I have ever been on. We camped at Loft Mountain, which is part of the Shenendoah National Park. If you have never traveled this road, you should try to get there sometime. It was amazing.
We then spent 9 days in Nicks Lake State Park in teh Adirondack Mts. with my mother and a bunch of my brothers, sisters, and other family. Again, the beauty and serenity is beyond compare. They don't allow anything on the lake other than canoes and kayaks, so it's always very peaceful. I spent a lot of time reading, knife throwing (I got really good at it, too), playing Euchre, and visiting my family. The weather was mid-70's most of the time, with a light breeze. Why I live in Atlanta, I will never know. I really need to move back to the NE.
The only two bad things that happened were my girls wandering off in Loft Mountain Park, and my trucks rear end dying in Kentucky. And coming back to Atlanta :(
All in all, it was one of the best vacations I have ever had. I'll post pics after we get the film developed.
