I was excited for the game when it was announced but I think it's hard to justify another $60 fighter in a sea of already competent, fun, and cheaper ones, especially when it's lacking in certain features like your review points out. MvC is a niche series in an already niche genre, too. I know the hardcore fans will be the early adopters and will pay AAA / Premium prices, but for the rest of us it doesn't seem like the smartest plan of attack for Capcom. Definitely not an impulse buy like SSF4 was at any rate (even though I already owned multiple versions of SF4). The 3D visuals and art seem to be the big draw for this one, but it's not enough for me. I'm not terribly excited about a large portion of the roster either, and I can still get my fill of MvC gameplay in MvC2 on XBL / PSN.
I still love these crossover games though so I'll be there in a few months when it's $30-40 and expectations are sufficiently lowered. This whole post may seem like I'm just whining about the cost, but it's more about currently having my fill of fighters and my attention, time being focused elsewhere. The cost just makes it harder to justify diving in right now.
