--------------- Holly Shit! DX freaking DX11! ------------------------
As we're still working on the DirectX 11 features, there's no set date when we know we'll be able to release screenshots. I'd expect that to be sometime in February.
About the general discussion on what features we'll be supporting - Dragon Age 2 will be taking a somewhat different approach than previous DirectX 11 games. We're primarily looking into more advanced lighting and shadowing effects that will better show off the existing base art and improve the atmosphere of the game (i.e. spell effects going off in darker cave levels should be more impactful). We'll be complementing that main feature with other smaller scale technical features including screen space ambient occlusion, soft particles, tessellated terrain.
Those features won't be required to enjoy the game and they obviously don't affect gameplay at all, but we're aiming to offer a better visual experience for people who invested on DirectX 10 and DirectX 11 hardware. If after the game is released you need a microscope to spot a difference between the DX9 and 11 versions, then we'll have failed
