Because Bloodlines would totally have won some GOTY awards back in '07ish with that category.
Also, Borderlands wins for this year. Secret Armory and Robot Revolution + Final Patch really finished that sucker off and made it finally feel complete. Went neck and neck with STALKER: Clear Sky. Maybe they could split the category up between official releases and fanpatches. That way Clear Sky can win something. It deserves some love, you know.
Yakuza 3 would probably win for "Best Game That's Not Remotely Like What People Think It's Like" since it's a JRPG that everyone tries to compare to Grand Theft Auto.
Oh! How about an award for studio that did the most drastic 180 in the positive direction? Lords of Shadow has been getting tons of love and mercurystream's previous game, Jericho, is pretty much considered to be a complete dud. Then again, it's only like a 22pt different on Metacritic between the two games. Maybe there's someone else with a more dramatic bump between their previous game and the one they did this year. That'd be a fun one to find out.
I could never select a "Best PSP Game of 2010", that's for sure. Too many great releases and asking me to choose just between Ys 7, Oath in Felghana, and Valkyria Chronicles 2 is like asking me which of my dogs I like most (well ok, Scout. But you know what I mean).
