The trick is that the redstone needs to be where the switch was, you can't have it on a block 1 level up. This somewhat causes a problem, as you need to have the redstone follow the tracks back to the start of the track. so you either have to have it go down the side of the track to just behind the T, bridging over one of the tracks that split off from the T, and then coming back down to the junction point, OR you have to tunnel under the track, and get the redstone to the junction that way.
either way, multiple Ts on one track require multiple redstone lines down the side or above or under the track.
