Okay shack, I've never bought stock outside of employee purchase programs, but I definitely want to grab some Tesla stock. What is my best option, and cheapest, for picking up stock the day they go public? Do I go to a broker, use an online service, etc.?

So far Toyota has sold Tesla the NUMMI plant and eliminated a PR nightmare in the process. If Tesla completes it's IPO, Toyota will invest $50 million in Tesla's stock. While the Toyota investment may be very important for Tesla, it represents about one-third of one percent of Toyota's annual capital investments and about two-thirds of one percent of its annual R&D spending. In other words, a $50 million investment in Tesla is not even a rounding error for Toyota. I would not assume any deep commitment from Toyota when the transactions could just as easily be explained as problem resolution.
Also, the first car built at the NUMMI plants was the Chevy Nova, which No va is spanish for No go. harharhar
