Contract Programmers:

A friend of mine's company (mostly shipping logistics) is looking to overhaul their web-based tracking system. He asked if I might know anyone in need of the work.

His description was: "We need someone to help us rework the system we already have in place, or potentially rewrite it from scratch if we can’t tweak the existing code. In a nutshell, it is a web-based database program to track the assets coming in and out of our system. We have a scanner and we barcode each trailer. We scan it in and associate it with a client account, who can then sign in and see where they have certain trailers, what time they checked in, etc., and then generate a secure release code. When a driver comes to check the trailer out, we scan the barcode and type in the release code into the scanner. If they match, they get out. This is the basic system. There are a couple of other security features that we have in place, but it would be easier to talk about the processes over the phone. Let me know if you have anyone who could assist."

I assume you'd have almost complete freedom, and you can set your own (reasonable) rate. Please SM me if you're interested and I'll put you in contact. Basically, if anyone knows how to do this for a reasonable price, I can assure you the work. I'm checking to see what the current system is written in.
