Honestly, though, if I take your argument at face value and agree that GB was hitting all his deadlines, then I have to wonder, who set the development timeline at a curiously long 12 year development cycle? Because otherwise, there'd be missing deadlines if a game was expected by GB in 08 and it didn't make it by mid-09 when the plug was pulled, right?
Also, if deadlines were being met and reality was meeting expectation (that is, the deadlines were exactly what was intended), then I think this goes back to the above post where you defended the management of this company. Clearly, the management needed somewhat more aggressive deadlines and goalposts and failed to deliver them to the development, eh?
So either they weren't hitting their goals/deadlines and development ballooned out to 12 years OR they WERE hitting their developmental goals over the course of 12 years and management failed to adjust that timeline to be more appropriate to game design and delivery.
