I think it might be the first 3D platformer ever (came out in 1995, before games like Tomb Raider and Super Mario 64), and it was also done from a first person perspective. There is some shooting, but it's more about jumping real high and long and collecting stuff. I'm not sure if it holds up today, even back then it was a little rough but it was a lot of fun. Some aspects have even carried over into modern games, like how the view tilts down automatically to help spot your landing (Metroid Prime series). They pretty much had to do that to make it playable, this was an FPS platformer on the original Playstation back when the Dual Shock (or earlier Dual Analog) didn't even exist.
