What you have done is redeemed the code in your EA account. However, that won't help you in game unless your EA account is associated with your gamertag.
To check this, go to ea.com and log in (using the practically hidden interface at the bottom of the screen.)
Then go to your profile (by clicking the "Welcome, USERNAME" text at the bottom. WHAT THE FUCK.)
Then go to the "Select A Default Persona" section and see if your Gamertag is one of them. It'll be labeled "(Xbox Live Gamertag)".
If it's not, go to "Add Persona" to add it.
If you get an error saying that name is already in use when you try to add your gamertag, then it means your gamertag is already associated with a different EA account. This is what happened to me. If that's the case, you need to go to http://support.ea.com and click on "Email Us" on the left. Then after you fill in the info, it should say that you can use live chat to resolve your issue. Do that. After you wait half an hour like I did you'll get to talk to someone. Tell them that you want to have your gamertag associated with your EA account and the website is not allowing you. They'll fix it.
And then you can play the content you legitimately purchased.
