Well 2010 is here and one has to wonder has gaming sorta burnt out or is it finally going in the direction of high quality and a truly cinematic feel. I would have to say from a few late 2009 titles and the most recent 2010 it is definitely the later.
I shit you not [Bayonetta] is freeking amazing. Voice overs the quality of DA: O and story to boot, WTF? Have developers found their mojo or has DA: O bitched slapped them in the ball and made them think twice of how to make a good game, read on if “Shes nice… I likeâ€

Right I will stop pissing in the pond, the FINAL version of [Bayonetta] is NOT a representation of the Demo what so ever (maybe combat not fully). Do not judge the game by the demo it is just a mere demonstration of the combat that’s all. Also if the demo made you go man that’s not bad its pretty cool, then stop reading this impression and go buy the game ASAP and make sure you play the prologue and listen and absorb the entire story and voice over the game has its EPIC!
WTF the game has crazy high quality voiceovers, the game has voiceovers that are cool and not lame, the storey is real in depth and very cool, I am thinking while playing they should make a movie… [PAUSE] this is a beat em up right? [CONTINUE] Man I was totally blown away how attached I got to all the characters and how cool the game flowed in respect to building the characters and even how it taught you to play. I could not get enough of the storey, gameplay and in game cut scenes I wanted more of everything and could not put the game down.
* Note – when you play the prologue the very first part with a chick in white cloak, that sequence may make you go WTF, you have to give it a few minutes keep it going it heats up then it good to go and you will not want to put the game down (well at least for me) *
K, the breakdown:
Things I liked:
- Top notch cinematographic and angels for the storey sequences not many do this right
- Voiceovers and excellent and very well done
- Voices are not lame as JPRG voices that make you not want to play and toss the game in the garbage (a la Infinity Undiscovered, may be the worst in history of voiceovers, I would rather have House of the Dead 1 voiceovers)
- The storey is excellent they seriously should make a movie of a tv series
- Graphics are real nice great animation
- Sound is Dolby Digital has nice body all around good
- Camera, top notch great third person camera never had any issues
- Gameplay is top notch I have played so many hack and slashes that get so old you just have no reason to keep playing (NintyNineNights anyone) they give you meaning and want.
- Great combo system flows really great once you get more accustomed you will flow like a dancer or swords man very cool (not like the shit Heavenly Swords was )
- You don’t really just mash buttons this a very wrong way of playing the game learn the moves, combos, tactics, witch time, magic and special moves.
- There is a item creation alchemy crafting system in place WTF I know very cool you gather ingredients then make stuff
- Shit loads of weapon upgrads, items like ring that summons imp demons (freeking rad), loyly pops that give bonuses, and a mess load of other upgrades. There is a shop where you go to buy upgrades with the money you get from killing stuff etc (other ways)
- Excellent puzzles not too hard just right make a nice break for the action fits very well.
- Great exploration it feels like an RPG world not boxed up zones.
- Outstanding characters very likable
- The super moves a freeking rad you just have to try em never get old
- Magic moves have degrees (do sequences of buttons to do higher lvl ones) which are all unique some truly awesome stuff
- EPIC – you can actually try new skills out before you buy them everyone should do this
- You unlock new moves like DMC4 or GOW that add new moves you pay for em
- Very cool mini games between some loads
- Really nice atmosphere near the beginning I really wanted to crack open a bottle of wine and sip it while I played hard to explain but not many games have made me want to do this. It just feels like a cool place aka world I want to be part of [Bayonetta] crew put it that way.
- Best tutorial, intro, storey build up etc to any game I have played (well pretty close, top 5 for sure)
- Great art and style
- Nice blood and carnage
- There are allot of unlocks and books to find for lore etc.
- Each fight you do will be graded you get trophies its very cool to play really well and get the trophies I got a Gold trophies and Platinum coins for sections.
- Real nice enemies look very cool
- I am sure I am missing stuff and as I play more I will find more…
Things I didn’t like:
- Its not on the PC
- Hmmm I really don’t know I hope its very long I would hate if its too short
- No real complaints
Well I kinda had a hunch that this was gona be a sleeper hit and to tell you the truth I really thought it was just a DMC clone. It is 100% not just DMC4 it almost feels like a high quality RPG in a way I am still wonder what the heck I just played, but it just is real cool and I love it. I wonder if it just me or others feel this way.
Most importantly if you buy the game you HAVE TO play the Prologue it’s a must and do NOT skip any of the cut scenes stories or cinematic take it all in and you will be presently surprised. If you have a good bottle of wine or a good stogie you gota play the game while your drink or take a puff its real has atmosphere lets put it that way (do not get wacked you will miss the storey, drink reasonable kids). Also maybe play it at night just feels better for some reason.
Again if you like DevilMayCry or God of War series and appreciate great storey and RPGs just go buy the game you may not want to go back to playing a regular hack and slash again. Bayonetta is to me the current hallmark for hack n slash (if you can call it that more like a hackandslash/rpg hybrid) it no longer feels hallow, empty, a quick fix, dead this smooth sexy latex chick has allot of meat to her I just need to find time to play some more. I just pray the game is long…
Verdict: Totally recommend if you enjoy hack and slash, great storey, characters, RPGs and want something fresh
At the least: Must rent, do not judge by the demo
Last comment: Awesome job to the crew and guys who made the game outstanding quality, top notch.
Later and enjoy if you get it… next up [Darksiders] and [Devine Devinity 2]
