-You didn't specify if you stop, click on the skill button with the mouse, choose a new skill, and then use it, but there's a speedier method than that -- assign a hotkey to each skill. It still only selects the skill instead of activating it, using a key press and mouse click instead of just a key press, but it's not too horrible. As you mentioned, changed in D3
-I think respects *must* be expensive. Part of what has made Diablo 2 stick around for as long as it has is that you're stuck with what you do, and if you want to make a different flavor of Sorc, you have to start from scratch. If respecs are free, you only need to make one character per class, ever, and just reallocate the skill points every 10 minutes if you like. Going into an area with a lot of lightning immunes? Change your trapsin to a martial artist, then go back once you run into physical immunes. Might as well just throw 20 points into every skill and be done with it. I'm fine with respecs if there is some relevant and appropriate cost to them.
-Most longtime players end up doing PvP as the endgame, which is especially exciting and compelling in hardcore mode.
-Completely disagree with your problems with magic find. I think it's an interesting mechanism in the game that forces players to make considered choices: Go for top killing speed, hoping for quantity to give you good items? Trade a little killing speed for some mf, playing the middle to try and get the best of both worlds? Go for max mf, even if it means you kill much more slowly? What about when you factor mf's diminishing returns into it? What if your killing speed triples when you have your best gear on compared to wearing 200% mf?
-Titan Quest had a nice way of managing loot on the ground, with separate hotkeys for 'everything', 'non-broken items', 'magical and better', etc, that were also customizable to an extent. I'd be surprised if D3 didn't have that.
The rest of your points I generally agree with. Good post.
