I've only got one friend on XBL that also plays it and could totally use some more, especially for the classic co-op. Right now I'm still slowly relearning the game and I'm terrible at the front part of the ship on stage 3 (back end is easy to tear apart, but I suck at the front -> back pod swap with that little gap there)) and I completely fall apart after stage 4 (especially when I try to solo the stage 5 boss), but I'm still having an absolute blast with it. The changes to the game in infinite mode are a godsend when it comes to practicing.
If you're going for the "Hidden Treasure" achievement on Stage 4 of the first game, it helps to be in the 3D graphics mode so that you can see the blinking spores. The first one is right at the start, after the opening and on the bottom of the stack. The rest are placed in similarly out of the way locations, mostly towards the end of the level.
Doubt I'll ever put the time required into learning R Type II since I never really cared for it. R Type was pretty memorization-heavy to begin with, the second one just went too damn far.
