How do you fuckers feel about Table chatter/kibitzing at your RPG table? can a player make suggestions when his character isn't present in the scene? is that cheating/metagaming? Can a player make suggestions that his character wouldn't know? Say you encounter a puzzle that you, as a player, figure out but you're playing a half-orc barbarian with an INT of 6. Can you suggest an answer and just have whoever's playing the wizard be the one who "figures it out"? Or can players only declare actions that they themselves thought up?

But, talking about cool things for other people's charactes, that's still metagaming, right?
That's what i've come to realize. There's good metagaming and BAD metagaming. Bad metagaming can be very, very bad, can really ruin the fun for people at the table, i'm sure we all have examples of it.
But good metagaming is very important! It should be nurtured and encouraged. I've found with an open table where everyone can pitch in suggestions reguardless of character knowledge, just blurt out things they as a player would like to see you end up with gaming situations far cooler than relying on just the player of the character's imagination.
You gotta watch it, though. Gotta make sure it's done right and that the game keeps moving along. It's a skill, one that takes practice, but I think it's something everyone should be aware of and should discuss how to hone it at the table. Would you agree
