Anywho... I'm going to go play a real game now, Super Monkey Ball.

WoW has a good combat system at the core of the game, the other stuff wears thin if you're immune to being addicted to chat, gear, or repetitive raiding. I think a lot of people who play it to excess are stuck on their chat relationships more than raiding a dungeon for the 20th time. It's not much different than people addicted to myspace, or IRC back in the day. I stay away from that stuff and when confronted with time sinks it's really more of a deterrent compared to people who are motivated by social comparison or gear advantages.
The graphics in the new zones are nice, the placement of mobs has improved somewhat, but fundamentally quests haven't changed at all, which would be fine if the core game was new. It's still new to a lot of people I'm sure. WoW has 10 million subscribers but it also has a lot of turnover of people who played it a lot and got bored, like any other game. I'm one of those people who got bored in 2006 after playing for a year (although I dabbled in pvp/dungeons on other peoples accounts), came back for BC to level up, didn't really feel compelled to continue, got a beta invite, had some nostalgia, wanted to mess with new talents, leveled a bit and realized the game didn't really change. I actually had a lot more fun in AoC because the game was completely new
