I know there's been plenty of these thread, but what the heck..
Tomorrow is a very important "job" interview for me, for a huge research scholarship. I'll be in front of a jury and they're going to ask me career goals oriented questions (or so I've been told). How about you pitch me questions I might be asked, and I'll catch?
Oh and, no, they are not going to ask what I think about global warming.

A great deal of the time, the answer is: prestige. Assuming you write papers in economics, they want their name on your papers (a form of branding, if you will). Alternately, if you ever won the Nobel Prize, you could bet that the top of their webpage would read "melt_core, a <xxx sholarship> recipient, wins the Nobel prize!"
So bear this in mind with your answers. They are going to choose someone that gives the most return on their investment. So phrase your answers in a way that demonstrates this. Be eager to tell them about any unique training you have had. If you have publications, be sure to mention them. I don't know how it works in Economics, but in biology it is a Good Thing to demonstrate your interest in starting up your own lab, and training other young suckers hopefuls.
Hope this helps.
