had an EL model to begin with, got an EL model as replacement. (although it looks like the second line of EL models) the pads seem like they have an extra layer of padding underneath with a thicker plastic backing and they seem as if they bounce back more and make less noise. wonderful.
only problem is that they feel far less responsive, yellow pad in particular. i played for a few hours and got semi-adjusted but i still feel like im missing notes that i shouldnt be, and its insanely frustrating.
especially in tug-of-war. fuckers. i have to adjust my play style and make sure i hit everything hard to guarantee it registers; despite the developer's warnings on the forums that you shouldnt hit it hard to avoid damaging the peripherals. (and have them claim you abused the hardware! - should i need to rma the damn things again)
i dont know if theres a non-warranty-voiding mod i can make to these things to help fix some of these problems. but i swear my original EL pads seemed to work alot better -- at least until of 3 of the 4 pads' plastic underbacking broke.
god damnit.
