There was this post from the other day with all kinds of stats. http://www.shacknews.com/laryn.x?id=15740115
Blue seems to have the advantage over red on symmetrical maps. Which, if any, of the following do you think might contribute to the imbalance?
1) Visual differences.
a) Each team in it's own base blends in a bit better with the its texture palette, but red sticks out more in blue's base than vice-versa.
b) Blue players are harder to pick out against the sky.
c) Blue players are harder to pick out in water.
d) There are different types of color blindness, and maybe some give the advantage to the blue team.
e) A player on fire looks like they're on the red team, so red players may ignore a blue player that's on fire.
f) A blue player in shadow is harder to pick out than a red player.
2) Blue has, on average, more players due to:
a) Players are more likely to choose to be on blue because it's on the left.
b) When players choose to be randomly placed and the teams are even, blue is favored.
c) Players like the color blue.
d) Members of clans who run their own servers usually play on the same team and they gravitate to blue.
e) Dustbowl and gravel pit tend to have more blue players (not sure if this is true) and players favor being on the same color they were last round.
3) Map differences. Although they are supposed to be exactly symmetrical, minor map differences give blue the advantage.
4) There is something in the code that gives Blu the advantage (crit chance?).
5) Valve is a fag.
