Apparently shitty driving runs in the family as sigpro's Dad couldn't drive his car worth a damn either.
Anyhow, seven laps into a 10-lap race, sigpro is in the lead. I'm trailing in 2nd place and while I can catch him in the turns, I don't have the top-end to stay ahead of him in the straights. Luckliy I didn't need it as the alcohol kicked in and sigpro pulled a Pirelli pirouette early in the lap and gave that lead up like a drunken prom date. sigpro's Dad was lagging WAY behind, and as I start the eighth lap, I can see his trail of oil, smoke and quarter panels littering the track. I'm closing in to lap him, but he's ALL OVER the place. Another lap goes by and I actually SLOW DOWN to avoid any collision with this no-skill-having interference car and wait for an opportunity to overtake. Meanwhile sigpro takes the opportunity to make up the length he lost.
We're on the last lap and I'm running right behind sigpro's Dad, knee-deep in his Spy Hunter-esque blown-head-gasket smokescreen. sigpro comes within striking distance around the sweeping right and that next turn right before the straight. I know that if I don't overtake his Dad at that point that he could run me down in that long straight and possibly take the race back on the back stretch. Since I've got a good stretch of track in front of me, I move to the right, ANNOUNCE that I'm passing on his Dad's right, and hit the gas.
And sigpro's Dad sideswipes me.
I try to correct, lock the brakes, hit the wall and sigpro passes for the last-lap win. A last-lap win that wouldn't have even been possible had he not trotted his ringer out to the race track.
And yeah I know I could have summed what happened up in two lines, but you asked for a story.
