Dudes. Left 4 Dead is absolutely AWESOME.
Today was also the big day! Fogo and NWS Club!
Planning and organizing of this started fairly early on, as we had reservations at Fogo (at I believe 6:30). Fogo was absolutely delicious too. There were enough of us there to makek the bill come to over $2,100. Even though reservations were made, more Shackers showed up than was planned, and that was great! The meal went over well, everyone paid their share, and we were out of there.
Then it was time for NWS Club.
The first rule of NWS Club is that you do not talk about NWS Club.
The second rule of NWS Club is that you do not talk about NWS Club.
NWS Club became the reason to trim our nails and cut our hair.
The third rule of NWS Club is that you do not slap a one-armed stripper on the ass.
Oh my god the hangover was awesome. Thank god for that 32oz mug I bought with sexninja, as I drank about 4 of them full of water after I got back to the hotel. Jamie my love, I will never forget theeeeeeeeeee.
Today is SATURDAY!! It's the big day. It's themelon's birthday! He's hosting a party at his house and oh my god it will be the biggest Shackmeet in the history of meets ever.
SO much to say about this party, but first I will start it off with this:
Thanks to themelon for hosting it. It was definitely one of the highlights of the entire weekend, and I'm glad it seemed to have been pulled off without any problems or major disasters. Also: your dog is the friendliest dog I have ever seen. :D
Unfortunately, today was also the day I was coming down with the flu :(
Although I wasn't exactly on my A-Game at themelons, it was still a great time. genjuro and Ajax decided to settle the score once and for all in Wii Boxing, and after genjuro got STOMPED, he decided to pick on someone else, so he challenged sleepy. Despite picking up sleepy in mid-air during the GAME, sleepy still trounced him after a while. It was completely hilarious.
BBQ was devoured, ILOVETHECOCK posts were made, Gears of War was played upstairs, foosball was played, tap beer was swallowed, poker was played, Mario Kart on the DS was played, conversation was had, laughs were shared, photos were taken. More Shackers showed up and the process was repeated. themelon's party lasted a long time, and the group I left with even left before it was all over. Absolutely, entirely too much fun.
After we got back to the hotel, a small band of us decided Denny's sounded like a great idea. This was pretty much the last of the Quakecon activities. The Denny's trip was really very memorable, because we knew it was going to be the last time some of us saw each other.
Afterward, the night ended for me by falling asleep listening to Remo play Wolfenstein 3d.
Quakecon is officially over. It's Sunday, and people are packing up everything. While most of us are ready to get home, I just couldn't help but feel bummed out that it wasn't going to last a few more days. All the planning and preparation, and in true form, Quakecon went by in an absolute whirlwind of us standing around saying "Where are we going to go eat???"
I said my goodbyes to Goldstein and Remo, and met up with -efx-, the New York Kids, and Infobiter in the hotel coffee shop area. We chatted for a while and took a shuttle to the airport.
After checking in, moving through Gestapo Security (nice people, to be sure), Infobiter and I caught up with the NYC Crew again, and in one last effort to make Quakecon last, we had our last meal together at the Airport Chili's. Conversation was made, laughs were shared, hugs were exchanged, and before I knew it, Infobiter was the only one left. Then it was his turn to fly. Now it was just me, playing Castlevania, waiting for my plane to take off.
Landing in SLC sucked, but it was nice to be back. The humidity does about +50 damage to me when I have the flu, because I feel mostly fine since I've been back. But I seriously miss Quakecon. While I might not be back for next year, I won't be surprised if I'm definitely there in 2009. They seem to be the biggest every two years... so I'm definitely planning on it.
I'm sorry I didn't mention more people's names in here. I forgot some of them (to faces) already, and just wanted to plow through the highlights for this write up.
Here's a link to my photos, which tell most of the stories I typed above:

Without getting too sappy, we really do have a collective of some of the greatest people I've ever met here. Not everyone gets to have groups of people literally all over the world, which he can call his friends, and all meet in some state every few years for one of the biggest, craziest parties ever. I'm pretty lucky to be a part of all of this, and it's worth every cent and every minute spent to be as such.
