This is how to load png's properly in ie using directx hax.
<img STYLE="progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.AlphaImageLoader(src='bla.png', sizingMethod='scale');" src="blank.gif"></img>
Really you should be doing all image replacements serverside but if your server won't let you do this then you can always do it clientside.
<javascript> //this would be how you would call the filter with DOM, create an image array and go down the list with a switch case or something
if (!ie) {
document.getElementByTagName(‘bla’).src = "bla.png";
}
else if (ie) {
document.getElementByTagName(‘bla’).style.filter = "progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.AlphaImageLoader(src='bla.png', sizingMethod='scale')";
document.getElementByTagName(‘bla’).src = 'needIE5plus.gif'
}
