Frontier Developments, creator of Elite: Dangerous and Planet Coaster, is moving to bigger things with its next franchise. How about a game created with a movie license of "global renown?"

The U.K. developer has apparently acquired a Hollywood license of an "enduring movie franchise," according to a press release found on the London Stock Exchange website. Unfortunately, there are no other details to go with the announcement. Those are expected to come later this year.

"The third franchise is an important next step in our growth," Frontier Developments' CEO David Braben said in the release. "We have chosen to license this particular IP to work with as our third franchise, because we believe we can create something very special. It is creatively stimulating, already has a high worldwide profile, and is a perfect match for our expertise."

Elite: Dangerous has been quite popular with fans, and a new 2.3 Update "The Commanders" will be coming soon.
