Nintendo Switch Pokémon Title and Skyrim Hinted in Removed GameStop Listing

A GameStop listing for the Nintendo Switch teased a Pokémon title for the console/handheld hybrid.

A home console Pokémon experience is something fans have been clamoring for since the series debuted 20 years ago. We've gotten Pokémon spin-off titles on console here and there, but with the Nintendo Switch, we may finally be getting the best of both worlds. According to rumors we covered late last year, there is a version of Pokémon Sun and Moon coming to the Nintendo Switch titled Pokémon Stars. While we've heard some info that corroborates a Pokémon title coming to the Switch, there hasn't been any new info about it lately.

However, according to a Nintendo Switch listing published on GameStop, there will be a Pokémon title releasing for the new system. The text, which has since been revised, read the following:

“Nintendo Switch games will include new title offerings from Mario, Splatoon, Zelda, the NBA and more! You will even be able to play Skyrim on the go, or Pokemon at home with the Nintendo Switch.”

Additionally, the listing points to The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim as a title for the Nintendo Switch. Footage from Skyrim was shown during the Nintendo Switch first look trailer, but both Nintendo and Bethesda have been coy about definitively confirming a release. The GameStop listing has since been changed to list studios developing titles for the Switch, but at least one Twitter user managed to save the page before it was modified.

There is the possibility that the text pointing to Pokémon and Skyrim being on the Nintendo Switch was just placeholder text that accidentally went live or even an intentional red herring to get people to sign up for their pre-order alerts. We'll find out for sure this Thursday, January 12 when the Nintendo Switch reveal live stream debuts at 11 PM ET/8 PM PT.
