Multiplayer mech combat game Heavy Gear Assault is now available for purchase on Steam Early Access.
Created by the same team behind Mech Warrior 4, Heavy Gear Assault currently offers basic multiplayer matchmaking, combat, and customization, with plans for more mechs, weapons, maps, modes, single-player, and features in the future as it continues development.
After Activision lost the Mech Warrior license in the '90s, they rejuvenated their old property by flipping it and calling it Heavy Gear. It should be noted, however, that the bots in Heavy Gear are not complete copies of those found in Mech Warrior, but are--according to Rock, Paper, Shotgun--"smaller and scrappier." Check it out in action in the video below.
In case you simply cannot get enough mech combat in your life, there's a fifth Mech Warrior currently in development, and 2016's Titanfall 2 had more than enough to go around with adorable robot personalities to boot.
