OK, we don't know what they are, but they will be big ... we think.

The Final Fantasy series launched on December 18, 1987, which means the 30th anniversary of the game and the franchise will be coming next year. Pubisher Square Enix must have something planned, right?

It does, executive producer Shinji Hasjimoto told Japanese publication Famitsu (via Gematsu), but just what those plans are is being kept close to the vest for now. He did say the details would be released "soon."

There is a Final Fantasy game planned for next year, Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age. And Square is also planning a Final Fantasy XIV-themed real escape game in Japan across several Zepp locations. Maybe we will finally get more details on the Final Fantasy VII Remake?

Square did release Final Fantasy XV this week, and it was very good. It should be a good momentum builder going into next year.
