A leaked Xbox Store listing last week first indicated that Xbox One owners that pre-order the upcoming Dark Souls III would receive the original Dark Souls for no extra charge. Today, Bandai Namco confirmed this offer, while also confirming that it is an offer exclusively for Xbox One users.

As originally indicated, those that pre-order the next Dark Souls game will receive the original Dark Souls game on Xbox 360 for no extra charge. The first game in the series is currently playable on the Xbox 360 only, but will soon be made available to Xbox One via backwards compatibility. Download codes for Dark Souls are expected to arrive 7-10 days after the Dark Souls III pre-order is purchased.

As for the other two platforms, they will not be getting free Dark Souls. PC and PlayStation 4 owners will instead receive a free Dark Souls III digital soundtrack. In addition to that, Steam users that already own both Dark Souls and Dark Souls II in their library will receive $5.00 off their Dark Souls III pre-order.

Dark Souls III will wrap up its saga on April 12.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
