Warner Bros. has announced five new expansion packs are now available for Lego Dimensions, which includes content based on Doctor Who, Lego Ninjago, The Simpsons, and The Lego Movie.

These Wave 2 Level, Team, and Fun Packs will provide additional level, buildable characters, vehicles, and gadgets with special in-game abilities. Expansion pack characters can also unlock the corresponding Adventure World of the same brand, which offers players additional open-world gameplay content.

Lego Dimensions is also introducing a new “Hire-a-Hero” feature that will allow players to sample a selection of Wave 1 expansion pack characters using studs collected in the game. In order to hire a hero, players can select a hologram minifigure near certain hint stones to unlock them for a limited time. Players can then try out this hero’s special ability to solve problems and complete puzzles. Warner Bros. plans on adding characters from subsequent waves of expansion packs in the future.

Lego Dimensions is now available for Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and Nintendo Wii U.

If I wasn't so completely bored of the Lego game formula I probably would have jumped in by now. But the GAME part of it looks entirely uninspired. I don't care that I can be Gandalf in Gotham City, or whatever.

Yeah, I also don't like the gated functionality. That pissed me off with skylanders also.

I'm telling you Lego Dimensions was ill conceived. Too expensive and not enough of a difference from vanilla TT games to make warrant such outlandish princes and the whole build and then play is nonsense.
Infinity understand Toys to life better than most. Skylanders to some degree.
Ill stick with regular TT Games/ Lego offerings. This Dimensions was the worst purchase I made this year.

Thanks for confirming my fears. Glad I somehow convinced my son he doesn’t want this for Christmas!
