Hello Games' Sean Murray took to the PlayStation stage tonight for an extended demo of No Man's Sky. He showed a brief space battle, then zoomed out to the expansive universe to show just how many star systems there are. He picked one at random and went to it, then found a beacon to explore. On the planet's surface, he saw a Sentinel that's meant to protect planets from explorers like him. Finally, he shared some data on the planet's beacon, and ended the demo.

I love the idea of this game, I still hope there is enough to keep my interest. With so many places to explore and everything being spread out what makes want to explore a system and how much effort do I put into each planet (and I presume moon and large asteroids)? Are there any quests, so to speak? Is that what some of those markers are?

I think everything you find goes up on a global database. maybe there are easter eggs everywhere? but the center of the universe seemed important. hopefully the shack can carve out a huge section for itself.
