Coffee Stain Studios’ Goat Simulator has been receiving some interesting updates lately as it included an MMO expansion late last year. Today, the Goat Simulator world is being infected by zombies as Coffee Stain Studios is announcing GoatZ.

GoatZ is a DayZ-inspired survival expansion that will feature a crafting system that can create anything in the world, a new large map with objectives to complete, “tons” of unlockable new goats with unique abilities, and a “realistic” survival mode where players need to eat every five minutes to survive.

GoatZ marks the second piece of downloadable content Coffee Stain Studios has released for Goat Simulator. “Initially we were planning for the MMO expansion to be the final thing we did for Goat Simulator - we wanted to go out with a bang,” designer Armin Ibrisagic tells us. “But after it was launched we received an avalanche of people asking us to keep making DLC, and that they would even consider paying a couple bucks for future content. So, with that said, here you go. Zombies!”

GoatZ will be available for purchase on Steam as DLC for Windows, Mac, and Linux for $4.99 and will be available as a separate app on iOS and Android on May 7. No word on if or when the Xbox One version could expect this expansion.

We were big fans of Goat MMO Simulator and we look forward to seeing Coffee Stain Studios’ twist on the survival genre and also seeing just how long we can have our goats survive.
