Hearthstone: Goblins vs Gnomes - Chatty's favorite combinations

You've seen some of the Shacknews staff's favorite card combinations from Hearthstone's new Goblins vs. Gnomes expansion. That appears to be nothing compared to some of the devious ideas that the Chatty community has come up with.

Hearthstone launched its Goblins vs. Gnomes expansion early in December. Even after a month of time with the new cards, many players are discovering new ways to maximize their effects. That includes finding new combinations that will make opponents cry into their keyboards and tablets. Shacknews recently listed some of its favorite combos (Part 1 and Part 2 are up now!), but now we turn to our Chatty community for some of their winning hands. Let's see how they make the most of the new Goblins vs. Gnomes cards.

Shrinkmeister + Cabal Shadow Priest (from Junktown)

When I originally opened my first Goblins vs. Gnomes packs, I was confused by Shrinkmeister. Why would someone only reduce a minion's attack for a single turn? Poster Junktown has the answer and it's a very sinister one. As it turns out, Shrinkmeister and the Cabal Shadow Priest are a match made in hell.

Reducing any 4-attack minion for that single turn is all Cabal Shadow Priest needs to bring that minion to the Priest's side. This can be devastating, as this can be used against some surprisingly powerful foes. That even includes the legendary Ysera, which can be a truly crushing blow. This combination has all the fun of Mind Control and comes at a cheaper mana cost. In short, practice screaming into your pillow for when this strategy is inevitably used against you.


Iron Sensei + Target Dummy (from Psigun)

Target Dummy looks perfectly harmless, doesn't he? He's a 0 mana minion with 0/2 stats and Taunt. Pair this with the Rogue's Iron Sensei, however, and he's not so harmless anymore. Iron Sensei will buff the Target Dummy up with an addition 2/2, making it a 2/4 defender. If the opponent has no plays, the next turn can be devoted to tossing in additional non-mech minions, while Iron Sensei keeps boosting Target Dummy until the opponent can find an answer. It's a fine 3 mana play to cause some early damage.

Players can also take a risk by waiting for a 5 mana play that replaces Target Dummy with the much more irritating Annoy-o-Tron, which could potentially give opponents fits as they try and get around its Divine Shield. Of course, by this point, there's a good chance that a Silence spell could be brewing, so use this particular combo at your own risk.


Molten Giant + Molten Giant + Echo of Medivh (from Guybrushed)

Egads!

This is definitely not bad for a last ditch effort, right? If your hero is down to 10 health or less, Molten Giant can be called in for free. That means two of these bad boys can be played in a single turn. If that's not enough, the Mage's new Echo of Medivh spell will put a copy of each minion in her hand, meaning she can play two more Molten Giants. That's a whopping four 8/8 minions for only 4 mana!

But hey, at that point, the Mage only has 10 health anyway, right? So the solution is just to go for the face, isn't it? That's the idea right until she plays Defender of Argus and completely ruins your day by turning two of thost Giants into 9/9 Taunt monstrosities. That play only costs 8 mana, for those still doing the math.


Sylvanas Windrunner + Feign Death (from semaphore)

Ouch. Just... ouch.

Feign Death is the latest in infuriating Hunter spells that will make you question why you still play this game. This spell will trigger Deathrattle effects without killing the minion, allowing Leper Gnomes to inflict some damage and Nerubian Eggs to summon the delicious Nerubians within. But combining this spell with Sylvanas Windrunner is just disgusting in its effectiveness. For 8 mana, a Hunter can play Sylvanas and the Feign Death card to immediately activate her effect without giving the opponent a chance at a Silence spell. This can lead to losing some precious minions and still leaves Sylvanas on the board to potentially take another.

Feign Death can be used just as effectively in other situations, like calling out Thaddius in a pinch. However, no combination is more potent and more of a gut punch than this Sylvanas combo. Because...again...there just aren't enough reasons to hate the Hunter already.
