Epic Games is ready to kick off the first alpha for the PC-exclusive Fortnite.

If you missed this bit of news on Monday, here's a reminder that Epic Games is kicking off the alpha for Fortnite. The first alpha test is set to begin today and will run all the way through December 19.

The first alpha, labeled Online Test No. 1, will test out basic large-scale functionality. Among the items the development team will be looking to examine are sign-ups, gameplay elements, and other essential systems.

For those that don't remember what Fortnite is, it is a PC-exclusive third-person action game that throws in building mechanics and the horde action that Epic has become known for in the past.

Those that have received invites will also have two other invites to pass along to friends. As a public service announcement to our readers and our Chatty community, remember to pay it forward and offer up any extra codes to friends. Those still looking to sign up can do so at the Fortnite website.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
