Sorcerer King summons two new sovereigns with Beta 2

Stardock's Sorcerer King is jumping into its second beta today with two new playable sovereigns and some new tricks for the evil King himself.

Stardock has released the second beta for its assymetrical 4X adventure, Sorcerer King, giving players more of the tools that they need to reclaim the world from the evil title character. Those tools involve taking the very power of the mountains into your hands, power that can be utilized by two new sovereign characters.

Players can select between two new sovereigns for their adventure. The Guardian is at peace with the world and uses his powers to heal the Shadowlands of the Sorcerer King's corrupt power. Meanwhile, the Tyrant is a villainous scoundrel that seeks to overthrow the Sorcerer King so that he may rule the world with his own iron fist.

The new Beta 2 update will also allow players to harvest mountains, forests, and fertile plains, in order to collect all the craftable goods they need. This allows players to create some devastating weapons for the fight ahead, but at the expense of pushing the Doomsday Counter forward.

As for the Sorcerer King, himself, he's also amassed some new power in this latest update. Look for him to come at players with new spells and monsters to counter the player's new ability to use the land against him.

The full change list for the new beta can be found here. Sorcerer King is available now on Steam Early Access.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
