Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?

      DayZ does have a hardcore mode that is only first-person, but I'm not the greatest PC gamer so I had to take advantage of the filth. ;)

        Yeah, if you play on a third-person server you have to cheat like that because everyone else is. But if you get into a hardcore server nobody can do it. I don't play DayZ for player-vs-player, so for me using that is no big deal because I'm just trying to find food, hunt and get geared up. I definitely see your point. I hear that first-person servers have much nicer people on them. :)

    It can be fun to watch someone play a game you're interested in and interact with them while you share the experience. It can also be fun to watch someone play a game you know you'll never get for yourself but want to see anyway. A lot depends on the streamer's personality, what they're doing, and how they interact with their viewers. It's also really useful to find out more about a game you're thinking of buying but want to know more about.

      Ah, I didn't realize you could talk to them through the twitch page while they played. I didn't click to watch it from there. That helps with understanding the game and learning more about it.

    For me it's personality first, game second. I can watch a great streamer playing a crappy game, but I can't watch a crappy streamer playing a great game. I love the interaction that good streamers have with their audience (it's the reason I bought a second monitor before streaming for Shacknews. So I could read the chat and asnwer questions). Last but not least, watching great streamers play DayZ helped me to become a better player and learn more about the game. I have a new respect for how it should be played. That all being said, tuning into a live stream isn't for everyone. :)

      They can all be exported to Youtube with a few clicks but by default Twitch doesn't save the VODs for very long now, so whoever is in charge will need be a little more proactive about archiving.

    Yeah that should be a default for all shack streams because most of us chatty users anyway are busy during the day. I know I am but I'd like to tune in sometimes.
